Robs Coast to Coast Walk for the Feel Good Café

In a matter of days local man Rob Bayliss from Kocher and Beck will be embarking on an incredible journey covering almost 200 miles with just the kit on his back raising money for The Marlene Reid Centre Feel Good cafe!

Local company Kocher and Beck based at the Stephenson Industrial Estate chose to sponsor the café at the beginning of the year and Rob has taken the opportunity to raise additional funds for the centre via this sponsored Coast to Coast walk.

The café, held every Tuesday at The Marlene Reid Centre with partners Enrych, is a safe space for people who can come along and join in with group activities such as bingo, or create something artistic with a hot beverage in good company. They can meet other local people who are in the same situation and interact whilst feeling safe. Something like this can only improve their wellbeing.

Rob and friends will be commencing The Coast to Coast Walk on Saturday 8th July 2023 beginning at St. Bees, ending at Robin Hood’s Bay, braving the elements and wild camping crossing the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks.

Each of the three national parks that the path passes through has a completely different geological structure and immensely varied scenery. The Lake District is mountainous and wet, the Yorkshire Dales has a predominantly karst landscape, and the North York Moors constitutes many ups and downs and boggy ground.

They will be following Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk, first published in 1973, hoping to cover up to 20 miles per day. In August 2022 the government announced that Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk was to become Britain's newest National Trail.
