Our People 2 Places Community Transport service provides a variety of services for local residents in Coalville and surrounding areas who may otherwise struggle to get out including:

- Local Shopping Trips, Afternoon Teas & Days Out
- Weekly Shopping Bus to Local Supermarkets
- Minibus Hire for Community Groups
- Volunteer Driver Service  (To Local Hospitals and Other Health Related Appointments Only)


Transport help for Covid-19 and flu vaccinations

To help people that are unable to travel to a vaccination clinic a free patient transport service is now available.

The service has been set up to provide eligible residents in Leicestershire and Rutland the opportunity to get vaccinated this autunn by helping them to get to and from a vaccination clinic if they live remotely or have no other means of transportation.

Please note the service provider will check your eligibility and will book you into a suitable Covid-19 and flu clinic. The service will arrange for people to be taken to and from their appointment, all at no cost.


Volunteer Driver Service (Social Car Scheme)

This service is suitable for elderly and vulnerable people who cannot use a public bus service, or where none exist Local Volunteer drivers, using their own cars, help us to provide transport to health related appointments such as Doctors, Opticians, Chiropodists, Dentists.

How it works:

  1. Upon receiving a hospital or doctors appointment, contact MRC transport service on 01530 512456 to give details of your appointment. The more notice you give us, the better.
  2. We'll look for a volunteer local to you.
  3. We can usually fullfill your request, but in the unlikely event we can't, we'll contact you immediately to tell you to allow for alternative arrangments to be made.
  4. One of our friendly volunteer drivers will collect you on the date of travel, wait up to 1hour at the location, or return at a later time, and deliver you home hassle free and direct to your front door.

This service is chargable to cover the fuel cost only and is considerably less than that of a 'taxi' service. An invoice will be sent at the end of the month after travel date occurs.

We pride ourselves on the familiarity of our volunteer team who are passionate about our service users and making their lives a little easier.

This invaluable service relies entirely on volunteer car drivers using their own vehicles.

Shopping Bus (Dial-a-Ride)

Our Volunteer drivers take local residents regularly to Morrisons, Tesco and the Co-Op for their essential weekly shop with the assurance that you can be collected and dropped back at your door in a fully accessible minibus.

Using three accessible minibuses, shopping services are provided throughout the week in the Ashby, Ibstock, Whitwick, Thringstone, Ravenstone, Markfield and Coalville areas.

How it works:

  1. Our minibuses run at the same time each week to Morrisons in Coalville or Tesco in Ashby. To book on, call our team and we'll schedule your place on the bus.
  2. On the day of travel our minibus driver will pick you up from your door at your set pick up time and deliver you and others from your area to the doors of your chosen supermarket.
  3. We usually give around an hour for you to shop but will be nearby in the car park to load on your shopping once you have finished. When all travellers are back on board we commence the journey home to deliver you and your shopping back to your front door!

Tea Shop Outings

Our minibuses and helpful driver will deliver you to a local attraction for an afternoon out and about! We can take up to a dozen passengers on each trip and allow you plenty of time to browse the shops, or just sit and relax for a delightful afternoon tea in a selection of wonderful cafes.

How it works:

  1. Browse our selection of upcoming outings
  2. Book your seat via our transport line on 01530 512456
  3. On the day of travel our minibus driver will pick you up from your door at your set pick up time, and deliver you and other passengers to the days attraction.
  4. We usually give a few hours for you to browse the gift shops and cafe before returning to the pick up point for departure.
  5. When all travellers are back on board we commence the journey home to deliver you back directly to your front door!
