Marlene Reid Enterprises Ltd
Marlene Reid Enterprises Limited is the Trading Arm of MRC Community Action and offers a CRB service throughout Leicestershire and the East and West Midlands.
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure Service
The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) provides a service for organisations/companies to check the background of employees/volunteers. This service is called 'Disclosure' and is aimed particularly at employees/volunteers who come into contact with children or vulnerable adults. It is becoming increasingly necessary for an organisation/company to demonstrate "best practice" and to carry out these checks.
Marlene Reid Enterprises Limited is an Umbrella Body for the CRB service and, therefore, is able to provide advice and support to organisations seeking to obtain a Disclosure. It is able to:
- advise and support throughout the process to both the organisation/company and also the applicant
- advise on the level of check, either Standard or Enhanced
- supply the application forms
- advise and carry out the evidence checking
- offer postal or personal checking of evidence
- check and countersign the forms and submit to CRB
- advise and supply policies as necessary to comply with CRB Code of Practice
- receive the Disclosure and supply to organisation/company, as appropriate.

Vetting & Barring Update
From July 26th 2010 any new employees/volunteers who work regularly with vulnerable groups (and also those switching jobs) will need to be registered with the ISA (Independent Safeguarding Authority).
A new form will be available for this process and applicants will be able to apply for an enhanced CRB check at the same time as registering with the ISA.
Isa registration does not replace CRB checking and applicants will have to continue to have their CRB checks renewed regularly (recommended every 3 years or when an individual moves job).
ISA assesses the risk of harm that an individual would pose if they were to work with vulnerable groups, based on the information held about that individual.
They use information from a number of sources: Police, local Athorities and employers.
