Community Transport
Community Transport, Coalville and District provides services to frail older people who have difficulty using public services, or where none exist.
Dial-A-Ride
Using four accessible minibuses, shopping services are provided throughout the week in the Measham, Moira, Ashby, Ibstock, Whitwick, Donisthorpe, Appleby Magna, Thringstone, Ravenstone, Markfield and Coalville areas.
This is a door-to-door service and half fare bus passes and tokens may be used in payment. Fares are compatible with those charged by public transport providers.
People who use a wheelchair are able to use these services.

Minibus Hire
Voluntary and Community Groups may hire a vehicle to transport members to day time group meetings or on social outings.

Wheels to Meals, Shopping & Tea Shop Outing Programmes
The service takes place every Monday for elderly and / or disabled people and their carers who may have a limited access to social or shopping opportunities. MiDAS
What is MiDAS? This is the Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme, organised by the Community Transport Association, which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers. It is a membership based scheme that has been designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses.
Who is it aimed at? MiDAS is applicable to any organisation operating or using minibuses. Member organisations range from small voluntary organisations operating one vehicle, to local authorities operating large fleets of minibuses.
How does MiDAS work North West Leicestershire Council for Voluntary Service has a Driver Assessor/Trainer assessing the competence of other minibus drivers and provides them with training on how to safely use a minibus.
What`s involved in becoming a Driver/Assessor Trainer (DAT)? The course gives information and practical experience on how to undertake a minibus driving assessment in an objective and consistent manner, how to structure on-road training and prove "classroom based" safety training.
The safety training, which can be delivered on a group or individual basis, uses key learning points from a number of areas:

- Passenger Safety
- Child Passenger Safety
- Defensive Driving
- Accident & Emergency Procedures
- Personal Safety for Drivers
What do drivers get out of this? Drivers who successfully complete the MiDAS assessment and training programme will receive a nationally recognised certificate, as well as the option of purchasing the comprehensive "Minibus Driver`s Handbook".

PATS
What is PATS? PATS is a Passenger Assistant Training Scheme which is organised, and recognised, by the Community Transport Association. The scheme is designed to enhance and promote the training of escorts assisting volunteer minibus drivers.
Who is it aimed at? PATS is applicable to any organisation operating or using minibuses. Member organisations range from small voluntary organisations operating one vehicle, to local authorities operating large fleets of minibuses.
How does PATS work? North West Leicestershire Council for Voluntary Service has a Driver Assessor/Training, PATS Assessor/Trainer assess the competence of other minibus drivers and passenger assistants and provides them with training on how to safely use a minibus, theirs and their passenger`s safety.
What`s involved in becoming a Passenger Assistant/ The course consists of information on how to deal with passengers who may have various degrees of disablement, children and young people with special needs and adults who need care and supervision.

Volunteering
VOLUNTEERING
Car and minibus drivers are always needed to help us provide the above services.
MINIBUSES - an ordinary licence will do but you must be 25 years of age (for insurance purposes). Minibuses are 10-16 seater vehicles with power steering. We have male and female drivers.
SOCIAL CAR SCHEME - our volunteers are vehicle owners, two to four door cars. Comprehensive insurance is needed. Mileage expenses are paid.
All volunteer`s out of pocket expenses are covered and free training and information sessions provided - as well as social get-togethers.
